Visit the home and kennel of Iditarod musher Rohn Buser and family, and spend time with our friendly team of Iditarod sled dogs as they run, play, and show off their personalities in a fenced-in yard.
Learn what it takes to train and care for a team of canine athletes. We’ll share stories from the trail, explain how sled dog racing works, and show you why these incredible dogs love their jobs.
After some playtime in the yard, we’ll harness up a dog, introduce you to the sled, and talk about the gear we use during Alaska’s long winters. If we have puppies, we’ll finish the visit with cuddles from the next generation of athletes.

If you’re adventurous and want to explore Alaska with a pack of sled dogs, this tour is for you! Visit the home and kennel of Iditarod musher Rohn Buser and family, then head out on a scenic walk through birch and spruce forests accompanied by a group of friendly, free running sled dogs.
As we walk our private trails, you’ll learn about life with the dogs, how we train and care for a racing team, and what it takes to prepare for events like the Iditarod. Along the way, we’ll share stories from the trail and introduce you to the unique personalities that make each dog special.
After the walk, we’ll spend time in the dog yard whith more of our Iditarod sled dogs. You’ll see how a sled dog is harnessed, get an up-close look at the sled and equipment we use, and learn how dogs and mushers work together as a team. If we have puppies, we’ll finish the visit with cuddles from the next generation of canine athletes.

Dryland Dog Sled Tour

Visit the home and kennel of Iditarod musher Rohn Buser and family, and take a ride with racing sled dogs! Learn all about the sport of mushing and see why these dogs love to run so much! You will embark on a guided tour aboard our cozy, 5-passenger vehicle perfect for the whole family! It’s equipped with a powerful engine to assist the dogs on rough terrain. Depending on the weather, our sled dog rides range from 0.5 to 2 miles (we keep it shorter in the summer to keep our pups cool). During the ride, we’ll stop for photos with the dogs and even switch up positions in the vehicle for everyone to enjoy the view.
After the ride we’ll spend time in the dog yard where you can meet more of our Iditarod sled dogs. You’ll get an up-close look at the sled and equipment we use, and learn how dogs and mushers work together as a team. If we have puppies, we’ll finish the visit with cuddles from the next generation of canine athletes.

TOUR DETAILS
Requirements
The tour requires a small amount of physical fitness. Please be aware that one person will need to be able to stand and balance on the sled as we travel down the trail. Please dress appropriately in warm clothes. (We do have some gear for you to borrow, but please come prepared).
Minimum Age
Due to insurance, child age minimum is 2 years old.
Duration
Average tour time is approximately 2 hours total. Though, time varies depending on weather, trail conditions, and how much time you want to spend petting the dogs!
Temperature
Please note Talkeetna is a large area and encompasses more than the few blocks of downtown. Be sure to check how far the kennel is from where you’re staying. Guests are responsible for their own transportation. Some options are provided below.
Our business is also our home. We live off the grid on 40 acres with our young family and our dogs. Please note that our bathroom facilities consist of a traditional, rustic Alaskan outhouse.

Kennel Tour: Play with a pack of sled dogs as they enjoy their relaxing down time! Enjoy the unique experience of being surrounded by pack of huskies as they run free and play in our fully fenced in yard. Learn about sled dogs, and life with them in Alaska. We will share stories of the dogs, and tales from the trail. Take a look at our winter gear, sleds, and the equipment we use.
Kennel Tour and Dog Walk: If you are a bit more adventurous and want to explore, join us on a walk! After an introduction to the dogs, it’s time to head off on a scenic walk through birch and spruce forests with a group of happy sled dogs. We will walk along our hand cut paths, pointing out local flora and fauna, and share what its like to live with the dogs. After the walk we will do the kennel tour, and spend time in the dog yard as all the dogs run free and play.
The length of the walk will depend on how far you’d like to go, and what your comfort level is.
Average Kennel Tour Times are 1 hour. Tour and Walk 1.5 hours. Tour is not recommended for small children. Dogs will be running around and jumping up.
